B.Sc. in Optometry and Ophthalmic Technology (BSCHOT)
Come July 2010, the Global Hospital Institute of Ophthalmology (GHIO), Abu Road, will launch a four-year graduate course (B.Sc.) in Optometry and Ophthalmic Technology. The course will be conducted by GHIO as a study centre under the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Students who successfully complete the course can employ themselves in specialised eye hospitals and optical outlets as well as practice independently, that is, prescribe spectacles, contact lenses and low vision aids.
Eligibility for the course is 10+2 or its equivalent in the science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) with minimum 45% marks. The minimum age of applicants should be 17 years. The medium of instruction is English. The course will cost Rs.23,800/-per annum.
